Collaborative School Librarian Training (CSLT) Grant

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The goals of the Collaborative School Librarian Training (CSLT) Project Grant are to recruit and prepare school librarians to work with Hispanic students to ensure that all students achieve academic success. The school librarian is an integral part of a school's team of professionals, providing services at the elementary, middle or high school level. This program equips candidates with the theories and practices of library and information science through the study of the foundations, principles, and ideas of the discipline, including those related to management, selection of children's and young adult literature, cataloging and classification, reference and bibliography, and the latest training in electronic media and technology. Students in CSLT will have free tuition and some fees paid. They will participate in a cohort of 15 students and receive special training for working with Hispanic students.
