Associate Psychology Professor Patrick Doyle remains in police custody awaiting trial for murder pending a psychiatric evaluation ordered by Judge JoAnn Coleman.

According to a representative of the prosecuting attorney's office in Bowling Green, Ky., a trial date has not yet been set for Doyle who was indicted in May by a grand jury.

Doyle pleaded innocent to the murder charge and is being held on a $500,000 bond in the Warren County Regional Jail.

While on vacation visiting his mother, Edith McGown, Doyle was arrested in connection with the bludgeoning death of his stepfather, Robert H. McGown. The murder is still under investigation.

At the time of the incident, Doyle had been teaching several spring semester psychology classes. His arrest came at the end of the semester, which delayed the posting of the final grades for his classes.

"Grades were delayed some, but the staff coordinated the efforts and got the grades finalized as quickly as possible," said Theresa Presswood, director of communications. "Everyone did receive an official grade."

Doyle's future employment status remains unclear. He is still employed as a member of the UH-Clear Lake faculty. "He is listed as on leave without pay," said Emily Sutter, dean of HSH. "At this time everything is being handled by the legal system, and since this is still an ongoing legal matter, the university has no official comment on the proceedings."
