A white Christmas it probably won't be-a fun Christmas it can be if you know where to go and what to do this holiday season.

There are plenty of things to do, places to go and sights to see to help you swing into the holiday season. So make your list, check it twice and get out and experience Christmas Texas- style.

Galveston is a good place to start. Take the Historic Christmas Tour of Moody Mansion, noon to 5 p.m., Dec. 9. Exhibits highlight Moody family Christmas traditions. Admission is free.

You can also catch a play while in Galveston. A Tuna Christmas is scheduled Dec. 11-16 at the Grand 1894 Opera House. Show times are 8 p.m., Dec. 11-14; 2 p.m. and again at 8 p.m., Dec. 15; and 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., Dec. 16. For ticket information call (800) 821-1894.

The 5th Annual Galveston Harbor Parade of Lights begins at 6 p.m., Dec. 15. Colorful boats will light up the sky as they sail through the Galveston harbor. The parade begins at the Yacht Basin and ends at the Seawolf Parkway Bridge. Find a spot along Pier 21 or in one of the many portside restaurants to experience the free parade.

If icy temperatures are what you need to get you into the holiday spirit, you are in luck. The Texas Ice Stadium provides many Texas locals with their first look and feel of an ice rink. The stadium is located at 18150 Gulf Freeway and is open daily. Admission is $6 and skate rental is $3. Call (281) 486-7979 for skate times and Christmas specials.

After an afternoon of ice skating, it's time to find food. The Kemah Boardwalk, with its themed restaurants and amusements, offers something for everyone. The Kemah docks are decked with all sorts of boats, bows, balls and holly. Stop in and visit with Santa who is on hand for photos.

Live entertainment is scheduled each weekend throughout December. The T.S.U. Toronadoes take Kemah's center stage 5-9 p.m., Dec. 8, and 4-8 p.m., Dec. 9.

Mark your calendar for Dec. 8 when the 40th annual Christmas Boat Parade gets underway. To kick off the beginning of the parade, fireworks will light up the sky at 6 p.m. over Clear Lake. More than 100 boats decked out in Christmas finery will parade around Clear Lake, through the Clear Creek channel and then wow the crowd as they sail past the Seabrook and Kemah waterfronts.

Make your way north next to see how downtown does Christmas. The Children's Museum of Houston has a special Christmas exhibit - the Festival of Lights Boulevard - which includes eight decorated homes, each representing a different holiday. Free Family Night is 5-8 p.m. every Thursday. The museum is located at 1500 Binz in the Museum District. For more information call (713) 522-1138.

So there you have it. You have your list. Be sure to check it twice and don't forget to be nice.
