"I've wanted to do a haunted house all my life," said Terry Carrell, owner of the Nest Haunted House. "I really want to give people their money's worth when they visit."

Expect a night of supernatural frightening fun, but watch out for the creepy and startling monsters.

"I love to scare people," said Jacob Adams, an actor at the Nest.

"My girlfriend's face was in my back the whole time," said Jose Rodriguez, a patron at the Nest.

The Nest features original characters, unlike traditional haunted houses, that tend to make use of movie characters such as Jason Vorhees (Friday the 13th), Freddy Kruger (Nightmare on Elm Street) and Michael Myers (Halloween). Makeup artists, costumes and more than 35 actors comprise the cast at the Nest.

"We've worked on the haunted house all year long," Carrell said.

The haunted house is chilling but safe with security provided in and around the Nest every evening.

This is the Nests' first year in business, but the concept has been ten years in the making. It will be tough to keep your cool because the monsters at the Nest are out to scare everyone. Visitors are in for a night of shocks and screams.

The Nest opened Sept. 20 and runs through Nov. 3. The hours are 7:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. General admission is $15. UH-Clear Lake students receive $2 off with a student ID. Coupons are also available at Houston Exxon gas stations, Hooters restaurants and Spencer gifts.

Parking is free and concessions are available for those who want to take a breather and try a free sample of Pepsi Blue. Every Friday and Saturday night at the Nest, customers can take a picture with Hooters girls or a featured monster.

The Nest is located at 4445 Gulf Fwy, Houston, exit 44A. Look for the giant 25-foot pumpkin.
