Information/Staff

The UHCLIDIAN--pronounced "yoo-klidian"--is the student run newspaper of the University of Houston--Clear Lake, one of several campuses in the the UH school system.  A joint publication of the university's recently updated communication program and Student Services, the UHCLIDIAN is produced weekly during the fall and spring semesters by students in Taleen Washington's Newspaper Publication course (COMM 4535).

Participants in this laboratory class spend 10-20 hours a week writing stories, editing copy, and preparing the paper's graphic design and layout. They have also fulfilled at least one of the following course prerequisites: previous newspaper staff experience, COMM 3231 (Writing for the Media) or
COMM 4532 (Photo-journalism I).

The name "UHCLIDIAN" is a homonym for Euclidian in reference to the Greek mathematician Euclid who founded the first school of higher learning 2,300 years ago.
