Missing Graduation?

I'm expecting to finish my thesis this semester so I just picked up a graduation application form. A memo came attached to it indicating that details on place and date for the commencement exercises have not been determined yet and that it would be announced sometime in March (early March? late March?). This is rather peculiar. My parents live rather far away (Puerto Rico) and they'll need time to plan a trip to Houston if they are to join me for the occasion.

I'm curious: Is there a problem they are trying to work out? Is this graduating class expected to be so big they are still looking for a place large enough? Again, I am just curious because this seems rather unusual to me. I thought maybe you know something about it.

Although I do not have the answer to all of your questions, I do know that the commencement ceremony date has been established. The graduation date is set to take place at Hofheinz Pavilion, May 17, at 2 p.m. I hope that this information will give your parents enough time to join you for your big day.
