The article titled "Tuition fee increase certain," which appeared on page one of the Feb. 17 issue of the UHCLIDIAN, reported:

"The current fee for undergraduate resident tuition is $41 per credit hour. The proposal is to raise the tuition anywhere from $42 to $46 per credit hour, as authorized by the state."

The Office of the President has asked to clarify this report with the following:

"Tuition rates, currently $44 per semester hour for undergraduate residents at UHCL, are determined by the Texas Legislature. The tuition designated fee per semester credit hour is determined by the university with approval by the UH System Board of Regents and may be set at any amount up to the current undergraduate resident tuition rate as authorized by the state.

"The current undergraduate resident tuition designated fee at UHCL is $41 per semester credit hour, which is $3 less than the maximum allowed. The university has proposed to the board of regents to raise the maximum for the tuition designated fee for the next biennium to $46 to correspond with the state-mandated tuition rate increase of $2 to $46."
