BJ's restaurant and microbrewery, located at 515 Bay Area Blvd. in Webster, combines a sports bar setting with a romantic and fun dining experience.

The sports bar, located at the back of the restaurant, is classically styled, including one large screen television and several televisions on each side of the bar displaying various sporting events such as racing, basketball and bowling.

The bar boasts a large selection of beer including its microbrews that are brewed on-site. Microbrews at BJ's include beers ranging from light lagers to dark ales.

The six beers brewed year round include BJ's Brewhouse Blonde, Harvest Hefeweizen, Piranha Pale Ale, Jeremiah Red, PM Porter and Tatonka Stout.

BJ's also brews seasonal beers throughout the year. The specialty mixtures currently available include: Honey Brew Nut, Mr. Brown and Berry Burst.

"With so many things to choose from, like beer, food and a great atmosphere, it is no wonder BJ's has been doing so well," said Cara Chua, an employee at BJ's since it opened Jan. 22.

Along with the sports bar, BJ's restaurant serves food for almost any taste. Whether it is salads, sandwiches, burgers, pasta, stuffed potatoes or their deep-dish pizzas, BJ's has more than 104 selections on the menu ranging from $6 to $23.

"The great thing about BJ's is on a Saturday night, you can have a kids sports team celebrating a win with a pizza on one end and a romantic couple having a nice dinner on the other. In the middle of it all, people can enjoy a great bar scene," said James Gicas, assistant general manager. "It works well with the whole demographic of the Clear Lake community."

Gicas estimates that BJ's accommodates 350 people on a typical Saturday night.

"It is a great restaurant and bar and you don't have to spend a ton of money," Gicas said.

BJ's opened in California in 1978. As its popularity grew, BJ's branched off to Oregon, Colorado and Arizona before opening its first Texas restaurant in Clear Lake. Within the next two months another restaurant will open in Plano, Texas.

Happy hour runs weekdays from 4 to 7 p.m. and 9 to 11 p.m.

BJ's closes the restaurant weekdays at 11 p.m., but keeps the bar open until midnight. On weekends, dining closes at midnight, although the bar is open until 1 a.m. for appetizers and alcohol.

All microbrews are available to go in half gallons, 5.2 gallons, and full kegs.
