Approved Physical Geography Electives

The courses listed below are approved Human Geography Electives currently being offered by the School of Business and Public Administration, the School of Human Sciences, and Humanties, or the School of Natural and Applied Sciences. .

Students pursuing the Human Geography Track select, in consultation with an advisor, 27 hours from the list and students pursuing the Physical Geography Track select 12 hours from the list.

Students pursuing the Education Track have the option of selecting their electives from either the Human Geography list or the Physical Geography list.

ANTH 4333 Peoples of Central America Investigates ethnicity, social organization, politics and religion of Africa.
ANTH 4333 Peoples of Central America A survey on native cultures of Mexico, Guatemala, and Northern Central America - prehistory to the present.
ANTH 4334 Indians of North America A survey of native cultures of North America, from prehistory to the present.
ANTH 4532 World Prehistory and Archaeology

Examines the basic methods and theories used by archaeologists to explore human evolution and prehistory.

ANTH 4633 Historical Archaeology Use of survey, excavation, and analysis of material remains to amplify written records of Colonial and Early American societies.
COMM 3135 Technical Writing Approaches to the writing of technical documents: proposal reports, manuals, and descriptions.
CSCI 4037 Computing Essentials Modern computing software tools and information technologies taught in a practical, hands-on manner. Topics covered: word processing, databases, spreadsheets, presentation software, computer programming, the Internet and development of home pages using HTML and other tools. Emphasis is on the development and application of computer skills to the student's program area. Laboratory instruction. Not for credit for computing majors.
HIST 4035 Texas and the Borderlands Survey of the history of Texas and the southwestern borderlands from the beginning of European colonization to the present.
HIST 4234 American Technological Style The experience of Americans adapting to the rigors of a vast continent; factors that shaped "Yankee ingenuity" and the dimensions of science and technology in contemporary America.
MGMT 3031 Management Theory and Practice Management policies and processes including planning, organizing and controlling; overview of production and functions of organization theory and behavior.
MGMT 4431 Leadership in a Global Business Environment The topic of leadership will be explored in the context of the global business environment.
MGMT 4533 International Business Management Prerequisite: MGMT 3031 or equivalent. Managerial considerations in international business operations; government involvement, organizational structure, operating policies and market peculiarities.
