Special Benefits
of the WiEL conference 2006

Flexible Conference Format: The conference format is designed specifically to give you learning flexibility in a cozy, comfortable, and stress-free surrounding. Friday evening’s reception and dinner are focused on your immediate needs at the end of a stress-filled week, including a keynote presentation “Your Image: Influencing Educational Success.” These events set the stage for a productive Saturday morning with small group sessions, shared meals, and networking opportunities. There will be a general session rounding out the morning at lunch to complete the conference.

A Cozy Atmosphere: At a maximum 80 possible registrants, the conference will be small enough that you could really get to know most of the people who attend with you. We want this opportunity to be one that everyone enjoys.

Opening Reception & Conference Introduction: Plan to get to know everyone in a relaxed and congenial atmosphere, compliments of your conference organizers and Ameriprise Financial! From the conference preliminary social in the 10th floor parlor, through the meals and sessions, this conference is about your getting to know your neighbors from nearby schools and districts better. The conference is targeted locally, to Gulf Coast women educators and schools, so we can get to know one another better in a cozy environment where work and play are not far apart.

Three networking meals included: The Friday evening reception and dinner, plus a breakfast and lunch buffet service on Saturday are in your registration. You will have an opportunity for significant interaction and chances to get to know others in a comfortable environment, at no added expense to you.

State rate for Hilton facilities: A single and double are the same low state rate so you can think about extending your professional development or sharing with others.

Follow business with pleasure for you and your family or friends. The conference will conclude at 1 p.m. and you will have the pleasures of the Clear Lake area, including some fine shopping, outdoor sports and adventures, Space Center Houston and other attractions at your doorstep. Plan to stay another night and double the fun! Holiday shopping is always more fun when you have the variety of stores and possibilities to share. Coupons, and discounts will be available in your conference materials.

CPE certificate for 6 hours of professional development: You can document your professional development from Friday night’s keynote through Saturday’s luncheon and obtain a certificate verifying SBEC-approved learning activities through UHCL’s Center for Educational Programs. By completing your session evaluations (required for CPE presentations) you will qualify for CPE credits, up to 6 hours. To receive your certificate through the Center for Educational Programs, you may e-mail your request to Joyce Young at the University of Houston – Clear Lake (youngj@uhcl.edu) or mail your request to her at University of Houston - Clear Lake, 2700 Bay Area Blvd, Houston, TX 77058.

Your satisfaction guaranteed: If you’re not sure about attending the conference, go ahead and attend risk free. If you decide it’s not right for you, let us know and we will refund your tuition. Decide during the conference, or up to May 2007. If the conference hasn’t made a difference in your professional or personal life during this school year, then you can request a refund!

Team attendance: The concurrent session format gives participant teams the broadest range of benefits for the organization. The more people who attend, the easier time you’ll have gaining support for new ideas and strategies. If you enroll three or more people from your organization, you’ll receive a discount!
